It would seem, as you can surprise today as a monitor? It turns out that it is very simple: it is enough to put an unusual format and a non -standard duke's matrix, make a cool design and do not overdo it with the price. This is exactly what they did in MSI With OPTIX MAG301CR2.

Appearance

The model is usually supplied. Cardboard box, inside a bunch of foam and a full set of wires: HDMI, DisplayPort and 90 W power supply. The monitor itself goes into analysis. Panel – separately, stand and leg – separately. This business is going quickly, but you can’t do without a screwdriver: for some reason, MSI remains faithful to all kinds of screws, and the support here must be screwed here. Similarly, with VESA-strengthening: the monitor is curved, and the fastening points are sophisticated in the case. Accordingly, in order to hang the panel on the wall or on some kind of third-party stand, you need to use the complete sample screws. However, okay, this is already nit -picking – and I am ready to discard them all for the design of this monitor.

Now, of course, a pure taste will go, and you can disagree with it at all, but the designer Mag301CR2 really tried and fit everything to a single very strict style. The support on the table is sweeping, but at the same time thin and leaves a decent free space. The stand itself is round and does not catch my eye. Well, the panel is the top of minimalism. Coarse black, slightly rough plastic. On the front side – gray, not striking inscriptions. Behind – an MSI logo burned in plastic and a stylish metal insert with an inscription Optix. At the same time, MSI even disguised the backlight here: it goes around the mounting site to the rack, but in the disconnected state about its presence is generally impossible to guess.

Assembly level is also on top. Although the case itself, like all such displays, is thick, it does not have a feeling of hollow. The plastic is dense, does not rattle when tapping and leaves albeit a completely unnecessary, but pleasant feeling of a qualitatively done thing.

The stand of this monitor is perhaps the most functional of those that I saw on the widescreen. As a rule, they are limited to settings in height and angles of inclination around the horizontal axes. Immediately you can twist as you like: and in addition to turning the vertical axis, even a transfer to portrait regime was added. It looks megazhable, and the panel itself is so long that it rests on the table in this position, but the very possibility is pleasant – and with its presence I will not even complain that all the ports are looking down here. And there are, by the way, they are decent: for connecting sources there is Display Port 1.2, pair HDMI 2.0, USB Type-C, Falf Reinteries and a USB 3 pair.0.

Control

In principle, everything is also normal for managing. On the lower edge are the nutrition keys and the launch of the corporate application MSI Gaming OSD. The menu and fast functions are suspended by the joystick behind the panel. For what exactly will the movements in the sides be responsible, you can solve it yourself: almost any function is allowed to hang there, except, oddly enough, the volume of the built -in DACs.

There are no special complaints about the menu. It is divided into several understandable groups: “games”, “professional”, “image”, “signal source”, “navigation button” and “setting”. Behind everyone is exactly what you expect to see under the corresponding name. The only thing you need to get used to is a little strange logic of conservation of settings. It always requires a confirming click by a joystick for any change.

As for the parameters themselves, in addition to the usual brightness, contrast and ratio of RGB there are a lot of game things. This is an alarm clock, so as not to leave the game of excess, and a timer, and several stops for games of different genres, and the highlighting of dark zones, and a fixed sight. The latter, by the way, is configured not only in form, but also in position, which is very useful in games in which the shot is not clearly in the center. For example, c Escape from Tarkov It passes below and to the right.

However, probably, I personally like MSI monitors not so much the number of settings (they are the same for everyone), but the fact that all these parameters, including the RGB alignment, are available through the MSI Gaming OSD company program, which allows you to create five profiles for any occasion and tie them to launch any program. For example, I picked up a calibrated with a colorimeter profile to Photoshop And Lightroom , And the settings with twisted contrasts and the sight – to the launcher of the same Tarkov. And this is really convenient: on my monitor, I have repeatedly edited a photo in the game mode by mistake, and, of course, I had to redo everything.

Matrix

Now let's talk about the main parameters. Here stands a matrix with a diagonal of 29.5 inches and a resolution of 2560×1080-in other words, this is extended to a third of a 24-inch monitor. It goes with a bend of 1500R, which is considered an ideal option for long matrices. The first time you have to get used to such forms, but in general they are more convenient than ordinary flat panels: the edges of the monitor are at the same distance from the eyes as the center, so there is no effect of the “big picture”. As a rule, only designers cannot master such bends: it is hard for them without straight lines.

Technically the matrix is built on VA technologies. The coating is matte, I personally did not notice the crystalline effect. Similarly with lights and Glow: the first in a minimum amount is along the lower edge, the latter manifest only at the non -standard angles of the view, and even then slightly. But the colors are noticeably pale when deviated from the central position. And it concerns both horizontally displacement, and vertically. In the latter case, however, there is an effect only when looking from above, and in life we usually do not look at the monitor from this angle.

As for the speed, the matrix officially holds the 200 Hz amazing for such a diagonal at 1 ms MPRT. I technically cannot directly measure the last parameter, but according to the UFO tests, the MPRT response is really impressive: 4.8 ms is one of the best indicators in recent years.

Unfortunately, such a speed was not given for nothing. The lubrication level of the matrix is quite high, and you can see a train behind objects. I can’t say that he is very annoying, but if you know where to look, then it is difficult to miss him. I also note that VA has one feature in the work. Due to the structure of pixels, VA brings a little on dark images-this is especially noticeable when the text on the black substrate is hidden. Someone does not notice this at all, but to someone such an effect is strongly hits the eyes.

The color here is the following. The matrix itself is an eight-bit, but with a FRC filter that greatly increases color coverage. According to our measurements, the screen covers 99.3% SRGB and 90.6% DCI-P3. At the same time, after calibration, the average decline by color is 0.55. This is not a record indicator, but sufficient to work both with video and photo. By the way, it is interesting that the monitor is most mistaken in the gradations of black, although in terms of contrast it is very good and gives out 1237.8: 1 at a black point of 0.1 kD/m2.

There is no calibration from the factory. We measured the minimum delta on the setting Pro_cinema, but it was also above two. We immediately note that MSI has quite a few profiles created purely for games, and, nice, they are all logically explained. For example, in the “shooters” mode, brightness and contrast increase, and the level of green decreases so that the enemies are not lost in the foliage. The panel works and with HDR content. Of course, at the basic level (changed contrast and expanded palette), but the image can be diversified.

Now general impressions. At the level of office work to the matrix there is a claim only in terms of the scroll of dark backgrounds. The rest is no worse than senior comrades in the workshop. Working for a long monitor is more convenient than from 16: 9, well, and tools for pulling and scaling windows on the site on site.

Games similarly. Of course, I can find fault with the fact that the monitor could be a little clearer on fast turning and more actively fighting objects, but this is already the destiny of e -sportsmen who still do not pay attention to long matrices. But Golden Mister Casino I can praise MSI for a high -quality "night vision" system. This monitor really brightens the picture, be healthy, and in the same Tarkov night raids are almost no different from daytime.

I will summarize: the monitor is good. And first of all, due to an excellent combination of opportunities and prices. The only thing that can somehow scare away from him is the features of VA matrix when working with dark backgrounds in Windows. Otherwise, at all without complaints. For 30,000 rubles there is everything.
